Testing Principle
Hemosiderin is a hemoglobin-derived pigment that is golden yellow
or yellowish brown in size and shape. Becauseit contains iron, it
is called hemosiderin. The iron in hemosiderin is generally ferric
iron or divalent iron, and ismainly composed of trivalent iron. The
principle that the use of ferric iron can be separated from the
protein bvdilute hydrochloric acid, and the Prussian blue reaction
with potassium ferrocyanide can be used to indirectly provethe
existence of hemosiderin in the tissue.
